The "hexadecimal value 0x13, is an invalid character" error appears in SolidCP installed on Windows 2008, when the web.config file was incorrectly edited. The error is generated by IIS 7 which stores its settings in web.config; any editing error will generate this error message.

To solve this problem you must follow the following steps:

  • note all the virtual directories created for the website (name and path)
  • delete the web.config file from the File Manager (or with an FTP client)
  • delete the site from SolidCP (the site files will not be deleted)
  • add the website in SolidCP again
  • reconfigure all virtual directories

If you encounter any problems in applying the above instructions please contact us. HostX offers the best .NET Core hosting services and can offer you specialized assistance in using SolidCP.
