In order to add the Google Analytics code for a site you will first need to have a Google Analytics account, respectively add to this account your website and follow the verification steps.

Google will generate a tracking code, copy that code, and follow the installation steps.

Depending on the type of application used for the website or platform on which your site runs, that code should be added between the <head> </head> tags.

Once you've added the code, check in Google Analytics for logging of visits to your site.
