Error 554 is a generic error message that is accompanied (generally) by a complementary explanatory message.

Some servers are configured to return this error message regardless of the cause of the error.

 

Variations of error message 554

  • 554 5.7.0 Message Size Violation - the size of the email is too large
  • 554 5.7.1 Message blocked due to spam content in the message
  • 554 5.7.1 [P4Message blocked due to spam content in the message.- ]
  • 554 5.7.1 <[email protected]>: Relay access denied - the sender is not properly authenticated
  • 554 5.7.9 Message not accepted for policy reasons. - This error occurs because Yahoo cannot verify that the email arrived from a legitimate sender. To avoid such situations Yahoo recommends using the following technologies:
    - SPF (Sender Policy Framework)
    - DKIM (Domain-Keys Identified Mail)
    - DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance)
  • 554 RLY:B1
  • 554 delivery error: dd This user doesn't have a ymail.com account
  • 554 Denied (Mode: normal)
  • 554 Invalid recipient - recipient does not exist
  • 554 Malformed mail denied! - is not in the correct format
  • 554 Message is not RFC compliant; missing "Date" header -  the sent header does not contain data
  • 554 Message not allowed - [PH01] Email not accepted for policy reasons. - the mail received from a legitimate sender cannot be verified
  • 554 Message permanently rejected - does not allow receiving emails from the sending domain
  • 554 Message refused - the message is rejected
  • 554 no valid recipients, bye - the recipient does not exist
  • 554 rejected due to spam content -  is marked as spam content
  • 554 rejected due to virus - contains files with viruses
  • 554 <[email protected]>: Relay access denied - the sender is not authenticated
  • 554 Sorry, no mailbox here by that name.  - the recipient's email address does not exist

  • 554 Spam violation, the content of your e-mail contains illegal characters, re-sent after examination
  • 554 Transaction Failed Spam Message not queued.554 Virus found, message permanently rejected (#5.3.0) - the message contains a virus
