To set up an email address in Outlook 2016 follow the steps below:

  • Click on the File tab and then on Add Account
  • Select Manual setup or additional server types
  • Click on Next
  • Select the type of account POP or IMAP (we recommend IMAP, the emails will be kept on the server)
  • Then click on Next
  • Complete the data in the fields (Name, full email address and select IMAP on the server)
  • At Incoming and Outgoing server fill in mail.yourdomainname.tld (replace with the real domain name)
  • Logon information - fill in the full email address and password (we recommend that you initially test the email account in the Webmail area - webmail.yourdomain.tld (replace with the real domain) - and make sure the data to be entered is correct)
  • Click on More Settings and on the Outgoing server make sure you have checked "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" respectively Use same settings as my incoming mail server
  • Then select the Advanced tab and check the ports

The port settings are:

Secured (SSL):

Incoming mail server IMAP port: 993
                                 POP3 port: 995

Outgoing secure server port: 465

Unsecured (non SSL - not recommended):

Incoming mail server IMAP port: 143
                                 POP3 port: 110

Outgoing unsecured server port: 26

  • Save the settings and test.
