Windows 8:

  • Press the "Windows" key
  • Type "Notepad" in the search form
  • Right-click "Notepad" and select "Run as administrator"
  •  In Notepad, open c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts
  • Modify the file and save it

 

Windows 7 / Windows Vista:

  • Start -> All Programs -> Accessories
  • Right-click "Notepad" and select "Run as administrator"
  • Click "Continue" in the "Windows needs your permission"
  • In Notepad, open C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts
  • Modify the file and save it
