To generate a new CSR (certificate signing request) in the IIS 7 administration panel, please follow the steps below:

  1. go to Start >> Administrative Tools    
  2. go to Internet Services Manager and click on the server name
  3. double-click Server Certificates
  4. double-click Create Certificate Request - a new window will open (Request Certificate)
  5. fill in all the fields and click Next
  6. in the "Cryptographic Service Provider Properties" window, select "Microsoft RSA SChannel Cryptographic Provider" and 2048 bits
  7. enter the path where you will save the .csr file and click Finish
