To generate a new CSR (certificate signing request) in the IIS 10 administration panel, please follow the steps below:

  1. Start IIS Manager from the Server Manager and double-click Server Certificates icon
  2. Go to Actions and click Create Certificate Request
  3. In the next window - Distinguished Name Properties - fill in all the required fields
  4. After filling the fields, click Next
  5. In the next window - Cryptographic Service Provider Properties - select Microsoft RSA SChannel Cryptographic Provider
  6. Bit length - select 2048 then click Next
  7. Enter the path where you want to save the .csr file and click Finish
  8. Activate the SSL certificate with the CSR code that was just saved. The CSR file can be opened using any text editor.

Important: Due to the more complex validation process, for OV and EV certificates you must specify a legal company name and an existing department in the Organization and Organization unit fields.
