WordPress allows changing the number of posts displayed on the home page. It also allows you to choose if recent posts of static content will be displayed on the home page.
In order to make changes, click "Settings" in the left menu then go to "Reading" submenu.
Under the "Reading" submenu a number of your website's settings can be changed. You may choose the number of posts to be displayed on the home page under "Blog pages show at most". Under "Front page displays" you decide whether your home page will be static (a page already created) or dynamic (loads blog posts).
Once you have completed the changes, click on "Save Changes".
