How to install a new language in PrestaShop?

PrestaShop includes support for dozens of languages, which makes it easy to internationalize your shop. This article describes how to install a new language for a PrestaShop store, as well as how to change the default language.

Add a language:
To add a new language in PrestaShop follow these steps:

1. Log in to the PrestaShop administration panel
2. In the top menu bar, click Localization, then click Translations
3. In the Add/Update a language section, use the selection field to select a new language
4. Click Add or update a language. PrestaShop will add the selected language to your site
5. To view the list of languages already installed on your site in the menu bar, click Localization, then click Languages.

Changing the default language of the store

After installing a language, you can set it as the default language for your store. Follow these steps:

1. Log in to the PrestaShop admin panel as an administrator
2. In the top menu bar, click Localization
3. In the Configuration section, in the Default language field, select the language you want set as the default
4. Click Save
