Running Magento 7 cron jobs must be done using PHP CLI. The Cron job below must be modified from:

* * * * *   php /home/username/public_html/bin/magento indexer:reindex > /dev/null 2>&1

in

* * * * *   php-cli /home/username/public_html/bin/magento indexer:reindex > /dev/null 2>&1

The cron job execution interval can be increased to reduce resource consumption. The recommended value is 15-30 minutes.
